Through faith in Jesus Christ.
Read Galatians 2 here. Seriously, read it. It’s short.
I believe Galatians 2:14-16 is especially important…this is the where Paul rebukes Peter:
14 But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews? 15 We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, 16 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. (italics was included but the underlining is mine)
I believe the Lord is calling me, and all believers, to be straightforward about the truth of the gospel. Everyone says, “speak the truth in love” but they have twisted it all up to mean something totally different. Today people think that speaking the truth in love is to skirt around the truth so that you don’t hurt someone’s feelings, because hurting their feelings wouldn’t be “loving”.
Speak the truth in love means this: BECAUSE you love someone you tell them the truth; even if it hurts, them or you.
Paul rebuked Peter because he loved him and he loved the people they were ministering to. He also knew Peter knew the truth because He had actually walked with Jesus! But now he was being led astray by fear.
The fear of man brings a snare but whoever trusts in the Lord will be safe. Proverbs 29:25
I’ve really been praying about these things:
When we encounter others in error how should we handle that?
What is my role in this?
Where does my responsibility begin and where does it end?
I welcome your comments on this…
Below is the video testimony of a former Catholic Priest Richard Bennett, as well as some questions he answers about the Catholic Church. He speaks the truth in love. He has a passion for telling fellow Catholics the truth of the Gospel; that salvation comes by grace alone through faith alone in Christ Jesus alone. If you or someone you know is Catholic, I hope you’ll listen…and encourage them to listen too. We have to start talking about this…people’s lives are at stake; their eternity.
