Mark 9:23…”Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
BELIEVE [bih-leev] verb (used without object), believed, believing.
1. to have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of something, although without absolute proof that one is right in doing so: Only if one believes in something can one act purposefully.
My dad used to say that “if” is the biggest word in the dictionary. And I believe that to be the truth…
The Lord has given me my “One Word” as a focus for this New Year…it is BELIEVE.
Over the past three years the Lord has been revealing himself to me in some pretty mighty ways. I was living a really sinful life style. I was far, far away from God and listening to the wrong voice. I believed the lies of the enemy that God had given up on me. I was a lost cause. Surely I was going to hell…if there really was such a place. That’s how subtle Satan is. He starts getting you to think hell isn’t even real so you might as well live your life the way you want to. Enjoy what you can while you can, you’re only young (or in your late 40’s) once. Live it up! And that’s exactly what I started doing.
Praise God that He rescued me…Today, I choose Him. I choose to BELIEVE!
In John 16:9 Jesus says (in red) “The worlds sin is that it refuses to believe in me.”
What would your New Year look like IF you chose to believe in Jesus?
Just look at Psalm 103…
“Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Psalms 103:1-5
It’s not always easy to “just believe”. But you can choose to be like this father in Mark 9 who opens up his heart to Jesus and…Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” Mark 9:24
