Matthew 13:19 (NLT)
“The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message about the Kingdom and don’t understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts.”
This is a HUGE problem! Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God…but if you hear it and don’t understand it the evil one will come and snatch it away! This is where many people find themselves. They hear something and they don’t understand so they shrug it off and think, “well, that’s just not for me…” BUT IT IS! The evil one is snatching the word away as quickly as you hear it because you are still in darkness! But the good news of the gospel is for everyone. Jesus is the light and in Him there is no darkness…once you surrender, you tell Jesus you don’t have all the answers and you need Him, He will fill you with the light…the truth…and there will be good ground for the word to take root in your heart.
So what do you need to do next? You have to keep reading and listening to God’s word. You have to pray for wisdom and understanding…you have to ask God to give you eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart that is receptive to all He wants to show you. Step into your destiny, ask God to show you who you are in Christ. To begin with, you are a beloved son or daughter…loved so much He died for you. Do you love anyone so much that you’d be willing to die for them? Maybe, if you are a parent you feel that way. God the Father loves you so much He sent His only son Jesus to die for you. Jesus (God the Son) loved you so much He hung on the cross in your place.
It’s NEVER too late to begin believing in the One who can set you free. Free from shame, free from guilt, free from fear…If you are still breathing, God still has a plan for you. He could take you out in a split second if He wanted to, but He’s patient. He wants all to come to repentance and belief (faith) in Him.
Give God a chance…read or listen to His word and ask Him to reveal Himself to you. He’s a good, good Father. He will show you.
